Perhaps coincidentally the date is the 50th anniversary of Edwin Drake's discovery of oil in Pennsylvania in 1858. This was also the same year a famous trial began between Standard Oil and the United States. Condition is Exc. and button displays Mint. Second is 7/8" showing gushing oil well with text "Bayou Oil Lands Co./Acre Owner." Reverse has back paper from Jens, Milwaukee and we learned in 1918 newspapers in the city were running advertisements promoting the purchase of oil land in Louisiana with phrases such as "Do It Now" and "Buy An Acre."
