Auction #208 - Part I
Item numbers 1 through 1277 in auction 208
Item Description
2x3.5" cardboard joined by small metal rivets with die-cut windows on the front and six cardboard wheels to turn numerals to count "Runs/Hits/Errors" for both "Brooklyn Club" and "Visiting Club." Reverse carries name of maker Thos. Jay Gleason, Brooklyn, N.Y. This firm also made celluloid buttons but we have not seen anything that bears their name after the year 1900. Front of this piece advertises "New Casino Theatre Flatbush & State Street." Reverse has text "Home Of Burlesque/Matinee Daily." Front has some tiny crease lines mostly in the central area while reverse has a pair of full vertical crease lines that are more obvious but the cardboard surfaces are not actually split. Also see rare baseball tobacco advertising scorer #582 and ribbon for early baseball commissioner Bulkeley running for Vice-President in 1896, item #448. Rare.
