Item Description
Each is 1.75" and the first has back paper by L.A. Badge while second has paper of St. Louis Button Co. The first is dated for 1911 and includes tiny text "State Hood" with a tiny number "47" printed over the letter "Z" of the centered word "Arizona." Obviously the issuer of this button was anticipating admission to the Union as the 47th state. However, New Mexico was admitted January 6, 1912 and Arizona became the 48th state on February 14, 1912. This button was issued by "Hassavampa Club" with dates of "Aug. 16 17 18-1911." Other slogans are "A To Z And Z To A" above the slogan "We Are The Whole Alphabet." Beautifully designed and historically interesting. Only example we've seen. Second item has light staining over the blue background but blending fairly well. There is also a .5" hairline crack at bottom center but barely showing. Design is that of a maze with tiny figure at the entrance. Surrounding text is "Arizona Annual Pageant Casa Grande Ruins/Reproduction Of Drawing Of Maze On Walls Of Casa Grande Ruins/Nov. 4-5-6, 1927." Both buttons are from the Hake Collection and come with Hake's COA.
