Item Description
Each of these rings has an adjustable brass base. On the upper side at right is the month of the year while on the left is a single word supposedly symbolic of those born in that month. Ovaltine offered these in 1936. All are scarce or rare. We will list each giving the month, companion word and the number of rings for that month that we have been able to offer going back to Auction 153 when our computer records begin. We begin with "January/Constancy." One offered. Small loss of luster on lower bands but VF. "February/Sincerity." One offered. Tiny traces of green tarnish on the four prongs that hold the stone. Most luster off the lower half of the bands. Fine. "March/Wisdom." Three offered. Essentially Mint. "April/Upright." One offered. Luster off lower 1/3 of bands. VF. "May/Esteem." First we've been able to offer. Luster off final 3/8" of the band at the bottom but about 80% Mint luster remains. "June/Wealth." Two offered. Some hairline scratches on the bands but still over 85% luster. "July/Freedom." First we've offered. Most luster is off but still a nice bright brass coloration. "August/Friendship." Two offered. Luster off lower half of bands and each has a small bend. Top half has luster and still displays Exc. "September/Truth." One offered. Tiny wear but Exc. luster. "October/Hope." First we've offered. Original luster is gone but remaining brass displays essentially Mint. "November/Loyalty." One offered. Tiny traces of green oxidation on the four prongs holding the stone. Small luster off the end of the bands but over 85% remaining. "December/Success." One offered. NM displaying Mint. Individually these rings in VF or better condition typically exceed $200.00. This probably unique set of 12 has a conservative opening.
