Item Description
Quite a scarce ring c. 1940 from the candy bar introduced by NECCO in 1938. Our first example since Auction 156. Brass with adjustable bands picturing a leopard on one side and a torch on the other. These symbols were used by the 1930s radio show "Black Flame Of The Amazon." Above each design is a small panel where there was a lettered inscription but this has been stamped over. However original words "High-Speed Explorer" are easily seen with a magnifier. NECCO recycled the original ring into their first premium. Mounted within the top of the ring is a dark brass disk with a propeller and wing design surrounded by the inscription. Ring prongs have very minor bends, finish is muted brass without luster as made. VF and we've never seen any better. A rare candy premium ring. Also see rare candy ring #1523.
