Item Description
See Metallica proof sheet #2974 for pertinent info including who this was signed to. Also professionally matted and framed using UV glass. 13.5x25" proof sheet. For their debut album released on Megaforce Records in January of 1984. Anthrax followed in the footsteps of label mates Metallica's debut the year prior in cementing their place as one of the "Big Four" of Thrash Metal w/this release. As with the other proof, this has been signed and extensively and personally inscribed to Megaforce Records heavyweight Harold Risch and his wife Shari. Front cover art is signed "Harold & Shari Grind Out The Metal Neil Turbin, Harold & Shari A Fistful Of Metal To You Scott Ian, Harold & Shari Thanks Keep Bangin Frank Bello, Harold & Shari Thank You For Helping Spread The Disease Charlie Benante, To Harold & Shari Metal Fists In The Air Dan Spitz." All signatures are bold and appear around and on the classic and gruesome art of a guy literally receiving "A Fistful Of Metal." This was signed prior to the album's release but after bassist Dan Lilker (who is featured on the album) was replaced by Frank Bello. Charlie's inscription features the early use of "Spread The Disease" which would be reworked as "Spreading The Disease" and become the title to their second album as well as the opening line from their third album in the song "Among The Living." Sheet has some lt. handling wear as to be expected w/some small scattered tan stain spots mostly on front art at top right so signatures are not in any way affected. Sheet overall Fine but displays Exc. as framed (minor wear to the frame itself). One of a kind and historic. Comes with COA's from Hake's and Harold Risch.
