Item Description
10x10x2.25" deep box contains complete game by Metal-Wood Repetitions Co. of Sidney, Australia. c. early 1940s. Nice box art which features image of Mickey Mouse pointing at family who is playing the game along w/race scene featuring the four Disney character contestants and an audience which includes Elmer Elephant and Donald's Nephews. Side panels also feature character illustrations. Box has moderate scattered wear and aging w/wear along edges w/missing surface paper. VG. Game parts include a painted wire table hook w/four connecting hooks and set of four 5.5" long metal "winders." Each of these units has a crank and wood spool w/length of string. There are four different "runners" which are die-cut cardboard double-sided figures attached to thicker cardboard bases. Each die-cut figure is about 3x3" and are of Mickey, Donald Duck, Pluto and Fifer Pig. Each of these attach by string to the "winder" units. The string is then hooked through the eyelets of the table hook unit and stretched from one end of the table to the other. Object was to then wind each as fast as you could thereby winning the race. Each die-cut figure has some creases. Figures are Fine overall, w/metal parts show scattered paint wear but VF overall. Interesting design and concept.
