Auction #209 - Part II
Item numbers 1145 through 2874 in auction 209
Item Description
6.75" tall doll has painted papier-mache head and upper body w/carved wooden arms/legs. Made in Germany, c. 1870. Doll has all original clothing and beaded necklace. Lower body has bellows that were used to produce sound, though this feature no longer works. Dress has some scattered aging and .25" and .5" fabric pulls on front and some thinning of fabric on back in two .25" and 1" areas. Bloomers have some aging/faint staining w/one leg missing hem and .5" tear on back, though this is mostly hidden by dress. Head has some dust soiling and arms/feet show some wear. Fine overall. Nice early doll.
