Sneakers clearly feature Captain Marvel image on toes and neat sole design w/all the classical heroes from which Captain Marvel gains his powers from by shouting the magic word "Shazam!" Shoes were made in Taiwan and are ©1976 National Periodical Publications, Inc. These great shoes were issued when DC Comics purchased the rights to Captain Marvel in the 1970s, resulting in a renewal of interest in the character. But, as Marvel Comics had created and trademarked their own "Captain Marvel" character in the decades since the original saw publication, the character could no longer be promoted under the "Captain Marvel" name, a stipulation that remains in effect today, resulting in the recent name change of Captain Marvel to "Shazam." Box shows lt. wear and is Exc. Shoes come wrapped in original "Shazam!" tissue paper and are Mint, old store stock. Great design for Captain Marvel's 1970s revival.
