Pair of boxed rubber stamp sets. First is 4.75x5-7/8x1" deep "Brownie Rubber Stamps" boxed set that contains ten rubber stamps mounted on wooden grips and generic tin litho ink pad. Some characters featured include - Chinaman, Sailor, Scotsman Golfer, Baseball Player, Mechanic, Clown, Policeman and Mailman. Some of these characters are featured on lid's paper label. Box shows lt. scattered wear and is VF overall w/Exc. contents. Second is 6.5x10-5/8x.75" deep "Brownie Stamps And Coloring Outfit No. 1401" by Baumgarten & Co. of Baltimore, MD. Box contains 12 rubber stamps mounted on wooden grips w/color paper labels including Chinaman, Policeman, Black character, Twin Brownies and Gent-like character. Comes w/generic tin litho ink pad and many loose sheets of paper, most w/stamp inking and/or penciling. Tray w/ink pad has heavy staining. Ink pad and pages are VG. Stamps have some aging/wear to paper labels and some scattered ink staining but are Fine overall. Box lid has illustration of Palmer Cox-like Brownies on paper label, including Uncle Sam, Gent and Chinaman Brownies. Underside of lid has printed examples of stamp images. Paper label has moderate, even aging, one corner split and 2.5" tear at corner. Box bottom has has one corner split. VG overall. Both sets are c. early 1900s.
