Item Description
All four are mailers addressed to “Irvington Federal Savings And Loan / Association Of Baltimore City, Baltimore 29, Maryland 21229.” Each has single fold and mailing size of 4x8” but open to 8x8”. In date of issue order included are: April 23, 1970 for “Cathlyn Platt Wilkerson” (two minor corner creases); May 13, 1970 for “Judith Alice Clark” (this was cut on the fold but restored to one sheet by 7.5” clear tape on reverse): December 11, 1970 for “Naomi Esther Jaffee” (Mint); November 30, 1971 for “Roberta Brent Smith” (Mint). Smith was arrested during the Weatherman’s “Days Of Rage” riot in Chicago October 1969 and then went underground in early 1970. Wilkerson survived a dynamite explosion in her father’s Greenwich Village townhouse which killed three associates. Clark also worked with Black Panthers and was captured in famous Brink’s robbery in Nyack, N.Y. in 1981. Jaffee was a Weatherman founding member and took part in Chicago’s Days of Rage. Scarce artifacts from the extremes of the 1960s protest era. See Patty Hearst FBI Flyers #129 and following two items.
