Larger size 1-3/8" (35mm) medal of white metal listed as DeWitt/Sullivan 1860-25. Front has high relief portrait facing left surrounded by star circle and text "Abraham Lincoln Republican Candidate For President 1860." Reverse enclosed text reads "The Great Rail-Splitter Of The West Must & Shall Be Our Next President." Surrounding these words are lines representing split log rails stacked 3 high and in an octagonal shape. According to DeWitt's count, "upon the fence rails are perched 7 roosters, 24 birds and 1 squirrel, thus making a total of 32 - to coincide with the number of states in the Union." DeWitt notes the dies were cut by George Lovett. Couple tiny 1/8" or smaller marks on obverse background but still vast majority of luster remaining. Reverse is NM.
