Auction #209 - Part I
Item numbers 1 through 1144 in auction 209
Item Description
1-7/16” brass frame with blue enamel accents on the twisted rope styled outer edge. Brass has small touch of green aging on upper left portion. Reverse is a brass back held in place by tiny tabs and with a horizontal bar pin. Under the glass front cover is a piece of photographic paper without dot pattern picturing both men and with caption below “Freeport Ill. August 27, 1858.” Left side of the piece has narrow vertical mark but this is in the photographic paper as made and the images display clean and crisp. Almost certainly issued for some ceremony commemorating the event’s 50th anniversary in 1908. Rare.
