Item Description
This exceptionally beautiful medal was designed by Davison. Joe Levine's reference on inaugurals estimates only 3,000 made. This is a beautiful 1.75" dia. very thick and heavy chocolate bronze medal with much beautiful rainbow patina. The piece is 5.5" tall. Complete as used by Inaugural Executive Committee member, in this case with "Finance" on the ribbon with die-cut U.S. Capitol as bar pin and with "Inauguration March 4, 1897" below the ribbon. Ribbon has minor dust soil and tiny brown dots (4) left of the woven American flag accent. Metal parts are Mint. Obverse depicts McKinley/Hobart jugate surrounded by state names on a ribbon design while reverse has gorgeous eagle plus the names of the thirteen colonies. Very limited distribution.
