Auction #209 - Part I
Item numbers 1 through 1144 in auction 209
Item Description
Listed as Hake Third Party GDP5. Since this is from 1896, the starting year for pin-back buttons, this is obviously among the very earliest cello Third Party buttons. 7/8” displays multi-sailed ship with candidates’ names above and very tiny red text along the bottom edge “Pat. July 21, 1896.” This is one of W&H’s patent dates and reverse has their backpaper. 5/8" hairline on back where cello didn't fold under collet but it lays perfectly flat with no gap or bulge. Front displays Mint and actually is a superb example with no fade and high gloss.
