Item Description
Large 2.25” with graphic red/white back paper from “Fred L. Lake & Co. Badges And Buttons/Dallas, Texas.” Few tan marks on the back paper and the celluloid has extensive staining on the outer edge going inward as much as 5/8”. In addition there is a curved 1.5” crack near the top edge which circles around and comes back from left to right crossing the tip of the donkey’s nose and going through the “24” portion of the “1924” date. In spite of the crack the celluloid lays extremely flat and the button retains its gloss. Because of the convention location in “Dallas” the artist adapted the state's symbolic long-horned steer image into a long-horned donkey to represent the Democratic party. Rare and the only example we’ve seen. A marvelous button in spite of the condition problems.
