Item Description
7.25x7.25x2.75" deep illustrated cardboard box contains complete turn signal w/mounting hardware. Automobile Go-Light Company. 1920s. Electric turn signal lights were devised as early as 1907. The modern turn signal was patented in 1938 and was later offered by most major automobile manufacturers. This early turn signal featured three separate features, indicating left or right turns as well as lighting central section that reads either "Go" or "Stop." Turn signal is complete w/original rubber cable w/wiring which has hardened around signal as stored for decades and comes w/remnants of the original packing paper. Metal signal case shows lt. wear w/some scattered .5" to .75" areas of oxidation along edges. VG/Fine overall. Box shows signal on both main panels, one showcasing "Go" while other showcases "Stop" light-up features. "Stop" panel has .25" and .5" area of surface paper lift and bottom flap has 1" tear. Box panels have some warping but box retains its shape overall and still displays Fine.
