Item Description
First is 7/8" cello with W&H back paper while second is 13/16" litho. Both are the same with the exception of "1939" date on the second. First button is c.1937 and names "Liberty Legion Of America, Inc." This was a company dominated union that opposed United Auto Workers organizing efforts. There were some 180,000 members in the union but 90,000 were employed by Ford. In 1939, the year of the second button, the union was dissolved by the company after agreement between Harry Bennett, Director of Personnel for Ford, and Homer Martin, U.A.W. President. Scarce labor history buttons both Exc. and display Mint.
