Item Description
Large 3.5" button with gray metal back and large horizontal bar pin holds what was apparently magazine cartoon converted to a button under celluloid. The button would date to 1938 or earlier as that was the last year the Buffalo nickel or Indian head nickel was produced. Cartoon shows shyster with strap over his neck holding a tray of nickels and he offers one to a group of five Indians wrapped in blankets. Text below is "'Here You Are, Folks. Your Portrait Engraved On A Gen-u-ine Nickel For Only One Dollar!'" Our photo shows gray streak on the button that was dust now removed although there is a little bit of tiny age tone on very bottom edge. Artist name at extreme left appears to be "Breger". Probably a one of a kind.
