Item Description
1.25" button listing black revolutionary activist as certifier of statement above "In Case Of Riot The Wearer Of This Button Is An Honorary Negro." Button is c.1967-68. In 1967 Stokely Carmichael left SNCC (see item #441) to join the Black Panther Party. Brown replaced him as the head of SNCC. Brown renamed the group Student National Coordinating Committee and supported violence which he famously described as "As American As Cherry Pie." He resigned from SNCC in 1968 after being indicted for inciting to riot and then became Minister of Justice of the Black Panther Party. See his F.B.I. wanted poster item #124. This button is Mint and scarce.
