Item Description
8x11" softcover "Cleveland Indians Sketch Book of 1948" publication published by the Cleveland Baseball Corporation. ©1948. Book has full page biographies of the 1948 team, including photos and stats. Additional Cleveland business sponsor ads throughout. This was the first year a sketch book was issued for Cleveland. Pinch creases to spine, Fine overall and just comes along. 29" long silk-screened felt pennant has Indian chief image and "Cleveland Indians - World Series 1948" text along w/scroll design at left w/players' names. Names of note include - Bob Lemon, Bob Feller, Lous Boudreau, Larry Doby and Satchel Paige. Other names include - Mitchell, Clark, Gordon, Keltner, Robinson, Judnich, Hegan, Tipton, Klieman, Christopher, Zoldak, Black, Muncrief, Gromek, Bearden, Berardino, Kennedy and Peck. Paige became the oldest man ever to debut in the Major Leagues on July 9, 1948 and had great success that year w/a 6-1 regular season record and an appearance in the World Series which the Indians won in six games. Pennant shows lt. wear as folded but still displays Exc.
