Item Description
The Indian Head Eagle was a $10 gold piece struck by the US Mint continuously from 1907 until 1916, and then irregularly until 1933. The obverse and the reverse, designed by the sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens, were originally commissioned for use on other denominations. The obverse features a woman wearing a Native American war bonnet headdress and was based an unused Liberty statue design by Saint-Gaudens. The reverse features an eagle standing on a bundle of arrows w/an olive branch at its feet. This example features elements of pink to peach coloring. From the Robert M. Overstreet Collection and comes with COA.
