Item Description
This prototype represents a 1970 idea by Walt Disney New York City merchandise manager Al Konetzni. Konetzni has been named a "Disney Legend" for his work creating and designing many Disney merchandise items produced by various licensees from the 1950s into the 1970s including the classic School Bus lunch box. Konetzni made the suggestion of characters "chasing" each other and a Bradley watch artist created this prototype but watch never actually saw production. 1.25" dia. chromed metal case w/black leather straps. Dial and die-cut second hand which spins as seconds tick were produced by reducing bw printed images that were hand-watercolored. The second hand features images of Mickey Mouse depicted in tank top, shorts and sneakers. Mickey and Pluto are both depicted in running poses and this die-cut piece is attached to the center post and does spin. Dial design features hand-lettered numerals and text "Mickey & Pluto Joggers." Numerals are set against very lt. blue aerial view of a stadium but this design is extremely faint. The watch also has tiny text on outer rim "Bradley" and a Disney copyright. The numbers and letters have tiny dots where color was applied a little heavier as well as some tiny dots on the stadium design but really only noticeable when viewed closely. Exc. working prototype. Unique.
