Item Description
20.5x28" poster depicts US soldiers charging out of trenches and past barbed wire w/bayonets on rifles. More soldiers, tank and American flag are visible in bkg. and explosions scatter overhead. Bold text at top reads "'Over The Top' Illinois!" and bottom promotes War Savings Stamps sales, w/text reading "Buy War Savings Stamps - Invest One-Tenth Of Your December Incomes In W.S.S. - Put Illinois 'Over The Top' For Our Boys." Poster has additional "The Torch Of Liberty" logo at upper left. Poster was printed by Illinois Litho. Co. of Chicago. c. 1917. Margins have some small scattered tears, four measuring between .25" and .5". Lower right margin has 1.75" tear by "Boys" text. If matted and framed, poster would display Exc. w/bright color and a clean appearance. Scarce, as this poster was printed for use in Illinois only and as such had limited distribution.
