Item Description
3x5" from set of six cards titled on top edge "Every Man Rides His Own Hobby." Others in this set included Benjamin Butler the presidential nominee of the Greenback Party in 1884. Others are Robert Ingersoll, Jay Gould, and Henry Bergh, founder of the A.S.P.C.A. on a hobby horse. Card carries name of the artist "Kash." This card was issued by an Adams, N.Y. clothing dealer. Barnum, with his name on his hat band, rides a line of train cars titled "The Greatest Show On Earth!!!" The engine at the front of the cars is Jumbo, the elephant, and a monkey sits on the car roofs holding a flag also picturing an elephant. Most of the card has a faint tan tone to it with slightly lighter areas at the upper left and along the top edge. Only minor age on the blank reverse. Fine and scarce.
