Item Description
This high grade collection is stored in plastic pages within a high quality black ring binder which comes with its heavy cardboard slipcase. The 143 buttons are arranged in alphabetical order and this group is exceedingly complete as only 182 are known. Of the 143 pieces only four have trivial stain and five have significant stain. The remaining 134 buttons are Exc. to Mint. These have back paper either naming "Hassan Cigarettes" or "Tokio Cigarettes." The group was issued over the years c.1910-1913. Popular comic strip artists of the day who created these illustrations include Bud Fisher, T.E. Powers, R.L. Goldberg, Thomas Dorgan, and Gus Mager. The most complete collection known to us. As a bonus, there are an additional 19 buttons done in dark blue and white as well as a further bonus of an additional 9 buttons done in white on red. These color variations are much scarcer than the standard black and white versions. The final count in this collection is 171 pieces. The most extensive and complete collection we know of.
