Item Description
October 1940. 9x11-3/8” textured stiff paper folder w/embossed text hold six sheets of “WXYZ King-Trendle Broadcasting Corporation” stationary printed on one side. Four sheets detail Green Hornet story, fifth sheet promotes “The Green Hornet” second serial, last sheet promotes twice weekly show noting “Three Condensed Green Hornet Shows Were Presented Last Year" at Dearborn State Fair sponsored by Ford dealers. Exc. Created by station owner George Trendle, writer Fran Striker, and director James Jewell, the show aired from Jan. 31, 1936 until Dec. 5, 1952. Plot line had crusading newspaper publisher and grand-nephew of the Lone Ranger Britt Reid fighting crime in the big city w/Kato by his side. Al Hodge played the lead role from 1936 to 1943. Extremely limited distribution, the only example we know of. From the archives of Detroit’s WXYZ and obtained by former long time station employee Jiam DesJardin.
