Item Description
8.5x12” slick paper soft cover book copyright 1941 The Green Hornet, Inc. has 16 pages. Book promotes “A New Daily Strip- Four Weeks Releases Inside”. Front cover has classic image of Green Hornet holding large logo in left hand and gun in right hand. Wonderful art throughout by Bert Whitman including 28 strips and photo of Whitman w/biography. Back cover has Green Hornet logo. Creator George Trendle wasn’t happy w/the art and rejected the strip. Spine has light pinch creases, right side edge of book has light vertical crease. No staples as issued. VF. Letter is 8.5x11” typewritten on Western Printing And Lithographing Co. stationary dated March 2, 1953 addressed to Raymond J. Meurer of the Trendle group signed in ink “Lloyd” by Lloyd E. Smith. Letter details how timing may not be right for “Green Hornet Cartoon Strips” by Al Stoffel, with hope for the future. Two light creases as mailed. VF. Promo book had extremely limited distribution and is first we’ve seen in our 47 years.
