Item Description
14x20" thin cardboard poster for the ill-fated attempt by legendary daredevil Evel Knievel to jump the span of the Snake River Canyon in Twin Falls, ID. on Sept. 8, 1974 in his Skycycle X-2 rocket-powered cycle. While the craft made it all the way across the canyon to the north rim, an early deployed drogue parachute and prevailing winds caused it to drift back into the canyon, where it landed only a few feet from the water on the same side of the canyon from which it had been launched. If the craft had landed in the water, Knievel would have drowned due to a jumpsuit/harness malfunction which kept him strapped in the vehicle. Knievel survived the jump w/only minor injuries. Poster features large photo portrait image of Knievel at center w/smaller image of "Evel Knievel X-2" rocket shooting across canyon image. Poster was for closed circuit TV showing at the Met Sports Center in Bloomington, MN. Poster has scattered tape staining to back, but this does not show through onto front. Lower margin w/Met Sports Center information has some moisture staining and top margin has .75" tear at center as well as pinholes at top two corners. Fine overall.
