Item Description
Large and impressive cello toy, 5x10x5.5". Unmarked but 1930s and Japanese. This is one of two versions each utilizing a slightly different Mickey "Roly Poly" figure as the car's driver (the other version is shown on page 51 of Mickey Mouse Memorabilla by Bernie Shine). On this toy, Mickey has painted arms and hands, the other version has wood ball arm/hands. Car is very nicely designed and detailed including grill, hood ornament, spare tire on back, etc. Free wheeling and Mickey bobs a bit when pulled along. The right rear wheel has tax stamp affixed to it. The same wheel has some imperfections in the cello which appear to be as produced. Mickey's head which is a separate piece as made and was at some point broken off and reattached. This is only noticeable upon close inspection and in no way detracts from the overall appearance. Otherwise the toy is in incredible condition for a cello toy of this size and age. VF. Rare and the only example we've offered in our 47 years.
