2.75" dia., 4.75" tall heavy cast brass w/thin silver-plating is roly-poly style w/figural cast head of Punch from Punch & Judy fame at North Pole position on detailed globe base. Text by top reads "Always On Top," referring to this paperweight's ability to right itself. c. late 1800s. Bottom features metal plug-like feature w/stamped "J.R.Gaunt - London" markings. Globe is labeled, but only country (aside from Australia) that is distinctly labeled is Canada, indicating that this item was English-made for use in British territory of Canada. Paperweight has nice patina and Punch head shows scattered aging w/some wear showing traces of brass underneath. Fine/VF. Wonderful design.
