Complete basic set of 12 pieces, measuring between 1" and 4.5" tall, each w/original boxes. Made by GEM Clay Forming Company for distribution by both sponsors of the Tarzan radio show and others. 1932. Basic Fould's set of 10 includes Tarzan w/Cheeta (this is first version w/o name on base), Kala holding baby Tarzan, Jane Porter, Numa the Lion, Sheeta the Panther, Witch Doctor, Pirate w/treasure chest, Lt. D'Arnot, Cannibal Warrior and monkey trio (which were counted as a single item and shipped in same box). Tarzan comes w/aged instruction slip, cardboard paint palette w/six small paint discs attached and paint brush. All other statues were issued w/o paint as this palette was intended for use in painting all statues in set. Cannibal Warrior and monkey trio statues have been painted by original owner and are very nicely done and detailed. Numa has nicely done faint airbrushed accents and Jane and Lt. D'Arnot remain unpainted but have a slight pink hue. Statues have some scattered lt. aging/dust soiling but are VF-Exc. overall. Boxes all have matching typed addresses, same recipient as in item #2538. Boxes have scattered wear from shipping and aging (more noticeable on address labels) and are Fine-VF overall. These figures are scarce individually w/boxes and the full set w/boxes is very rare. This is the first complete boxed example of these statues we've offered in our 47 years. Our last full set (w/o boxes) sold for $1,700.
