Item Description
6.5x13.25x12.5" tall wire display rack for Ajay "Willie Mosconi Billiard Cues." c. 1970s. Mosconi was a professional pool (pocket billiards) player who, between 1941 and 1957, won the World Straight Pool Championship an unmatched 15 times. For most of the 20th Century, Mosconi's name was synonymous w/pool in North America – earning him the nickname "Mr. Pocket Billiards" and he was among the first Billiard Congress of America Hall of Fame inductees. Mosconi helped to popularize pool as a national recreational activity, hence his name being attached to billiard supplies. 3x11.5" metal display area on front of wire rack has attached paper label w/both "Ajay" brand name as well as "Willie Mosconi Billiard Cues" text, Mosconi's name being his facsimile signature. This label shows edge wear and is Fine overall. Rack has wear from use w/slight inward warp of top rack portion and surface rust to bottom base portion of rack. Technically VG, but would look great if filled w/cues as originally intended.
