Item Description
Original 11x14" title card for The Three Stooges' 61st short film for Columbia, 1942's "Cactus Makes Perfect." The story deals w/Curly receiving a letter about his invention, causing The Stooges to leave their mother's home to make their fortune. In transit, they are swindled into buying a map leading to a lost mine in the Old West. After finding a lost mine, the Stooges run afoul of two down-on-their-luck prospectors, who try to rob the boys out of their gold. Moe and Larry flee to an abandoned hotel where Curly hid the gold in a safe. The miners show up (causing The Stooges to take refuge in the safe room), and drill through the door, throwing a stick of dynamite in. After a little back and forth, the stick fizzles out. Believing it to be a dud, the boys burst out laughing and Curly chucks the dynamite, causing it to explode. Card features nice large image of Moe, Curly and Larry at top w/Curly having note on his chest reading "It's In His Left Pocket," revealing Curly's hidden stash of cash. Smaller image at bottom right shows The Stooges w/their mother (played by a man) w/Curly demonstrating his invention, a harpoon-like "Gold Collar Button Retriever." Card has pinholes at center left and right margins and some corner/edge wear w/small nick at bottom center. Lightly aged, card displays Fine. Rare Three Stooges title card.
