Item Description
Originally 9.75x12.75" but was slightly trimmed for binding in a book and is now 9x12". Published by Firth & Hall; New York 1836. Engraving on the cover page 5x8", depicting a wounded General Sam Houston accepting General Santa Anna's sword. The lithographer identified as "Swett." Text beneath the engraving: "The Texian Grand March For The Piano Forte/Respectfully Dedicated To/Genl. Houston/And His Brave Companions In Arms/By/Edwin Meyrick/New York/Published By Firth & Hall, 1 Franklin Square." Final line of text is mostly trimmed. This originally read: Entered According To Act Of Congress In The Year 1836, By Firth & Hall In The Clerk's Office Of The District For The 5th Dist. Of N. York." Complete eight pages with blank back cover. .5x1.5" piece off near spine and 1.75" inward tear. Slight surface paper loss on upper two inches of cover but blends well. Only other example we've seen sold for over $800.00 in Heritage 2007 auction and apparently was a cover only mounted on a board. Complete and VG.
