Item Description
4x11x3/8" deep embossed tin litho w/attached metal bar that holds socket w/original electric cord. 1930s. Made by Soreng-Mangold, the same company that produced the plaster lamp featuring Mickey Mouse seated in armchair and long-bill Donald Duck lamps. Flat back as designed to be wall-mounted. 3" tall image of Mickey Mouse at bottom while above are images of flowers and leaves. Has cardboard backing originally held in place by four metal grommets; two at center remain but those at top and bottom are missing. The missing grommets in no way affect its appearance for display. The electric cord shows heavy wear w/cracking and light does not work. Scattered across the entire front surface is hairline paint crazing, most noticeable on Mickey in the form of hairline white lines over most of his body. All coloring remains strong and bright so this is not too distracting. Mickey's face and areas immediately surrounding his body have darkened w/age. VG. Lamp is rare. Comes w/6" tall attached original cardboard shade w/three different scenes showing Mickey and Clarabelle Cow doing dishes while Donald laughs; Mickey playing guitar for Minnie Mouse, Donald and Mickey's Nephew; Donald and Mickey playing football as Minnie cheers. Shade has darkened w/age and shows obvious wear w/all over creases/cracking to surface paper and wear at edges. Good/VG. As rare as the lamp is, this shade is even rarer and the first example we've seen in our 47 years.
