Item Description
We've searched the reference books and internet and find no other examples of this watch. The handsome blue and white cardboard box carries a large image of Franklin D. Roosevelt. The box construction precisely matches the box used for the first year of Ingersoll's famous Mickey Mouse in 1933. Hinged lid box with insert is 2.5x4-5/8x1" deep. Includes Ingersoll "Guarantee" paper. A few color dots off lid edges and repeating image inside the lid has small 1/8x3/8" surface paper loss. The watch has adjustable length metal band with panels flanking the watch case displaying black and silver images of the U.S. Capitol and F.D.R. Watch dial also shows U.S. Capitol with text "The New Deal" above and "Ingersoll" below. Dial includes a second hand. The crystal is new, but the original yellowed one is included in the bottom of the box. The watch appears never worn and displays Mint with extremely Fine original box. Hands can be set and the watch will run for a few minutes but not continuously. After offering character and historical watches for 47 years, we regard this previously unknown piece by a major maker like Ingersoll as an incredible first we've seen. It is most likely this watch never went into full production.
