Item Description
DeWitt #1860-106 and just a hair larger than 15/16". DeWitt notes this frame was probably made for the Northern Democratic party candidates-Douglas and Johnson; however the ferrotype portraits are of "Abraham Lincoln" and "Hannibal Hamlin." The Lincoln side has frame text "Union Of The States 1860." The Hamlin side reads "The Constitution And The Laws" featuring a period after "Laws" and with a star accent to the left and right. The Lincoln ferro is dark but his image is easily visible. On the lower left 1/8x.5" area of missing emulsion. The Hamlin ferro is much less dark and has just a tiny emulsion fragment off the right edge about 1/16" long and a small speck off the lower left at his shoulder about 1/8" long but neither small defect shows much at all. Overall VG and a scarce variety.
