Item Description
Original cardboard box w/illustrated paper label on lid contains 8" long by 5.75" tall all original toy that consists of tin litho cart (w/images of clowns on wheels) w/painted tin clown driver figure wearing fabric shirt and string hat tassel, w/attached flocked tin jointed donkey. Made in Germany, 1920s. This is "The Stubborn Donkey" version as opposed to the "Balky Mule" version. Driver holds original string reins. Toy shows lt. wear, mainly to gold luster of cart/wheels. Works well, toy goes back and forth, causing clown to rise up and down, pulling donkey up and down. Fine/VF. Comes w/original 4.5x5.5" brittle glassine instruction paper that lists toy as "The Comical Clown" but is clearly illustrated as toy featuring same design. Sheet has chips along left and right margins and is just Good. Seldom found w/toy. Box shows moderate wear w/lid having all corners split w/two side panels missing. Label is evenly aged but image remains complete. Good/VG.
