Item Description
3.25x4.75x2" tall base w/"Spic Coon Drummer" name on two sides w/"Marx Toys" company logo on other two. On/off switch on side w/built-in key on other. Base has 6.5" tall tin litho figure of stereotypical African-American man seated on drum w/images of stereotypical black couple on drum heads. Total height of toy is 8.5" tall. Produced in the 1920s, this is scarcer than the double Spic and Span toy made at the same time. Additional small drum (professional replacement) on man's lap has stereotypical black man's face on drum head. All actions work when wound, bass drum has drum stick that strikes it on the side, cymbal under foot raises and lowers w/leg and man drums drum on lap. Scattered aging and wear w/scattered trace of oxidation to man's hat, legs, edge of bass drum and foot cymbal. VG/Fine.
