Original illustrated box contains 11.5" long tin litho toy (in two parts) w/built-in key. Made in Japan, c. 1960. Box lid is illustrated on all sides. Box has lt. handling wear w/some lt. creasing at corners and small puncture to box bottom. VF. This unusual and rather elaborate toy consists of a horned stag beetle pulling a large leaf "wagon" w/monkey driver and two squirrel passengers. The beetle is depicted w/ladybug riding on its back, leaf includes images of other insects and acorns. Toy works and as it travels forward, the monkey pulls back on the original string reins, the beetle's head goes up and down as squirrels spin. Scattered minor paint marks but Exc./NM. Neat design.
