Item Description
Each has W&H back paper used in 1900 and not earlier. The 7/8" size is Hake #3315. While the gorgeous color is intact the bright gold background has lost brightness along the top and left side. Still with high gloss and displays VF. Second is the 1.25" size. While the design is the same as item #266 this is a distinct variety. Both say "Roosevelt" at the top but the image on this one has definite addition of red coloration mixed in with his facial tones so he has distinctive rosy cheeks and brighter lips than on the previous item. Above his shoulder at left is a 3/16" vertical line in the paper beneath the celluloid and at the far right there is a 3/16" raised line in the celluloid surface. Both of these small marks are as made and they detract little from the incredible color graphics. In our experience this version with the reddish accent is scarcer than the version without. Sen. Charles Dick Collection.
