Item Description
The first Disney Studio Christmas card was printed in 1930 and there is only one known example of that card. This is the second card from 1931 and itself is very rare, this is only one of two examples we have offered in our 47 years. 5x7.5" on textured paper. Front reads "Yoo Hoo!" w/small image of snow-covered house. Card opens to reveal text "A Merry Christmas And A Happy New Year" w/images of holly leaves and berries around a candle along w/a superb full-color, 4x5.5" tipped-in paper sheet depicting nighttime Christmas caroling scene featuring Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Pluto, Horace Horsecollar and Clarabelle Cow. Directly below this is printed name of "Carolyn Kay Shafer," Walt Disney's confidential secretary. Card was printed w/her name for her to send to those people on her personal Christmas card list. Very minor handling wear, lower left corner of tipped-in sheet has .75" crease. Card was mounted in scrapbook and since removed, w/traces of glue on back of card. Despite this, front and interior of card remains totally bright and clean, VF overall. A special opportunity to not only obtain a very rare Disney Studio card, but also one w/a direct link to Walt Disney. From the Maurice Sendak Collection and comes with COA.
