Item Description
In 1932 a major change in Disney licensing occurred w/the appearance of Kay Kamen. Kamen convinced Walt Disney that licensing his characters could open up whole new vistas for the company. For the next 17 years (until his tragic death in a plane crash), Kamen handled the licensing of Disney merchandise. Offered here is a vintage 8x10" glossy photo of Kamen in full Western regalia, including a ten gallon cowboy hat. He has signed in blue ink "Texas - Feb, 5, 1931 - To Ruth, With Best Wishes From Kay Kowboy Kamen." Photo has some scattered handling wear and a 1.25" tear at lower left margin which has archival tape repair on back. Smaller .5" tear at bottom right. VG overall, but inscription/signature remains bold and distinct. Great image and a rarely seen signature. Comes with Hake's COA and R&R Auctions COA.
