Item Description
Toy No. 173 distributed by Borgfeldt in 1931. 6.5" tall die-cut tin litho w/spring plunger mechanism on back. Depicts Mickey Mouse holding a pair of drumsticks and has jointed arms w/separate drum attached to pants w/his name on the front and "Nifty Jazz Drummer" text on top of drum. This is variety w/drum in green/white/orange (also produced w/rwb drum). Complete w/original separate tin tail used to prop toy up. Toy works well and when mechanism is activated, the separate drumhead rapidly moves up and down as a drumming noise is produced and in turn causes Mickey's arms to move as if he is drumming. Right arm has 1/16" spot of bare metal and Mickey has some scattered scratches and even lt. aging. Top back edge of drumhead has two small spots of paint wear caused by the drumsticks but not that noticeable when hands are properly positioned. Toy remains totally bright and glossy. VF and a much-above average example. From the Maurice Sendak Collection and comes with COA.
