Item Description
This effort to raise money for WWI was sponsored by the postal system 1917-1920. The title "Flying Squadron" applied to experienced solicitors that worked with teams of local volunteers. In addition to this rare 1.25" button, there are four 5/8" buttons each with the War Savings Stamps group initials and each reading "Member" plus designations of "$100. Club", "$250. Club", "$500. Club", and the last reading "Limit Club" and the words "One Thousand." The first of these has an 1/8" cello slice off the bottom but not showing on the front. The first three of these have W&H paper while the fourth has the paper of St. Louis Button Co. NM displaying Mint except as noted. A rare group.
