Item Description
This rare 2" pocket mirror came from a man who worked as a stenographer in MacArthur's office in the Philippines from October 1944 through June 1945. His name was Master Sergeant Clyde Banfield. He taped this mirror into a scrapbook with the notation "Mirrors Dropped By Planes In Philippines Prior To Re-Occupation By Allied Forces." The tape has left some tiny surface residue dots and there is some very slight loss of yellow background color on the upper half. The item is celluloid with an inserted glass mirror on the underside, made without use of any metal collet. Shown is MacArthur saluting with American and Philippine flags and his famous quotation "I Shall Return." Fine and rare.
