Item Description
1.25" with age spotted W&H paper. Issued for a group 66 miles away from the park in the town of Canal Dover. Text on the rim names the event as "Canal Dover Business Men's Outing Aug. 29, 1905." Center of the button has bw photo of the "Rock Springs Park" entrance with two sets of trolley tracks in the foreground. This park along the Lincoln Highway in Chester, West Virginia once drew 20,000 visitors daily from Ohio and the Pittsburgh area. Its main attractions were World's Greatest Scenic Railway, the Cyclone roller coaster, and a hand-carved 1927 Dentzel carousel. Button has vertical 5/16" deep scratch, barely cutting the celluloid, at center left. Tiniest traces of a little age on the rim but barely perceptible. Full gloss and color. One seen. Rare.
