Auction #210 - Part II
Item numbers 1271 through 3109 in auction 210
Item Description
Brass ring with adjustable bands shows a full figure batter on each side standing upon crossed bats. Ring top has high relief baseball design reading on the perimeter "Baseball Centennial" and with the dates on the raised image of a ball "1839-1939." This ring was issued in 1938 as a General Mills premium for The Jack Armstrong radio show. They recorded only 46,501 rings distributed. The following year, Quaker cereals used the remaining supply as a premium. This is one of only seven examples we've seen in five decades. Some bright luster off narrow bands but top half remains brilliant and NM.
