2.75x4.5” thin paper card from 1941 ©Superman Inc. ACC# D143. From a set of 24 issued for the Superman bread campaign and reverse has imprint reading “Saylor’s Bread/Coming Soon – Superman Bread/Watch For It.” These were bread loaf inserts issued by several different bakeries. This is card #1 titled “Spy In The Sky” w/great scene of Superman guiding an airplane. Story text on back. Still intact at right edge is pledge stamp. There were a total of eight different numbered stamps and this is #1 "I Pledge Allegiance To My Flag." A complete set of eight stamps were to be sent in as enrollment in the “Superman Junior Defense League Of America” and upon doing so, you received a club badge. Has a .25" paper pull on left center edge (as is typical) and tiny edge nick at top center. Lt. aging but still bright and clean. Fine by our general grading scale, card-grading scale would be VG/EX. These cards are rare w/stamp still intact and this is the toughest Superman card set to assemble. The number of these cards we are offering in this auction (see items #2886-2899) is a rare opportunity to acquire this many at one time. We have sold complete cards in the past between $500 and $1,200.
